Future course "New Energies"

The corporate location of EVK GmbH, the Ense/Haarstrang region, is one of the most important
sites for wind power and photovoltaic plants in North-Rhine-Westphalia (NRW). One of the first wind
-driven turbines in NRW was erected here in 1989. In the meantime the wind farms in the region
total over 330 wind turbines (further installations are being planned). The town of Ense is already
fully able to supply over 50 % all the power it needs from renewable energy sources.

Environmentally friendly technologies are continuously progressing.

The development within the region is reflected on a global scale. The
exploitation of wind, solar, water and gas power is becoming more and more
important throughout the world. It already represents a sensible and
necessary complement to fossil energies, and the development process of
renewable energies is still far from being concluded. The installations for the
generation of environmentally friendly energy are becoming more and more
efficient, existing technologies are being constantly reviewed and improved
or new paths are taken, building on the basis of existing concepts.

In order to keep the economic risks associated with each new technology for investors and
operators within calculable limits, a close collaboration with insurance companies is needed,
as is their willingness to underwrite.

We are open to every development and - in continuous co-ordination with manufacturers and insurers - continue to develop new cover concepts for emerging new technologies.
